Speed TV’s successful Bullrun reality show is returning for a 3rd season this winter. For those who do not know about it, you should. It is a fast past, adrenaline fuelled race across America that pits 12 teams against each other vying for $200 000 in cash. It is a car enthusiast’s ultimate dream competition.

Celebrating the Best of Pontiac

Michael Schlee

At the end of the year Pontiac will cease to exist. Whether you view this as a sad day, or long overdue, one thing is for certain; Pontiac has made some of the most memorable vehicles over the past 52 years.

Who could forget the GTO, the Trans Am or the Fiero? Who can forget (although you might wish you could) the Aztek, the T1000 or the last generation Bonneville? These cars (and others) will remain in our consciousness years after the make has stopped production.

Profiling 47 Classic Mustangs from Ford

Michael Schlee

For over forty five years Ford has produced the Mustang. Keeping a model alive for 45 years alone is an impressive feat. However, the Mustang has sold very well over the decades making it the 25th all time most sold model around the world. Not an easy feat for a vehicle only sold in North America.

Got a Sports Car and Nowhere to Run it?

Michael Schlee

Any gearhead or car nut has dreamt of being a race car driver at some point in their life. The problem is, very few can afford to support their own racing endeavours and even fewer make it professionally.

Lapping Mosport

Lapping Mosport

So, what do we common folk do to unleash our inner Michael Schumacher? Well, racing on the streets is not only dangerous but incredibly stupid and most of us do not own our own race track. So that leaves just one thing…..track days.

Profiling Spec Racing in Canada

As posted a few weeks ago, the American Le Mans Series was at Mosport International Raceway August 27th-30th. Although it was the weekend’s marquee series and race, there was more going on then just the ALMS. As side for concerts and vendors, several other series are run that same weekend. These other races are referred to as support series.

But don’t be fooled. Just because they are support series does not mean they are any less entertaining, competitive or spectacular.

The American Le Mans Series race took place at Mosport this past weekend. Despite the less then favourable weather conditions, fans turned out by the thousands.

Torrential rains Saturday, blistering winds Sunday and cool temperatures all weekend kept things interesting for the race teams. More then a few teams left the weekend with bent race cars.

It is rare that professional race teams take time out of their busy schedule for a meet and greet session. But for those of you lucky enough to be in the Toronto area this weekend, you have a great opportunity to meet a few race teams.

Weekend Tailgating at the Glen

Michael Schlee

It is 11:00PM Saturday night, 300 people have randomly gathered around a kicking sound system and video screen. Music videos are playing, disco balls are spinning and a full light show is blazing. A typical nightclub you say? Well not really, this is happening in front of two RVs sandwiched in amongst thousands of other tents, cars and RVs in a huge open field. Welcome to NASCAR camping.

Recapping the Sprint Cup Race

Michael Schlee

It was like taking all the presents out from under the tree on December 25th and putting them back in your closet. That is the closest way I can describe the crushing disappointment felt when a NASCAR race is called off due to rain roughly 2 minutes from the start. To further this disappointment, imagine being 5 hours from home and knowing that there is no way you can stay an extra day to watch the race Monday.

Well that is exactly what happened to several of us during the pre-race ceremonies for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen. And judging by the number of solemn faces wearing NASCAR t-shirts I past by during my trip back to Canada, there were plenty.
