<p>11 Cars With Some of the Biggest Stock Wings in History<br />

<p>Downforce is a key ingredient for any race car. By increasing the pressure on the tires, a car is capable of taking corners faster.</p>

<p>How do you create downforce on a car? Well there are a few different ways, but the most common is to apply a spoiler or a wing to a vehicle.</p>

<p>Since spinning out is never fun (when racing at least), applying downforce to a vehicles backend is key. This is why most race cars have some sort of spoiler or wing attached to the rear end.   And since a sports car usually resembles a race car, it’s logical to put them sports cars too.  </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Where it all went wrong when minivans and SUVs started to sport spoilers is unknown.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>So anyway, I present to you 11 vehicles that have some of the most ostentatious wings a manufacturer ever grafted to a street legal vehicle. Some are very functional like the 1969 Charger Daytona; some are needed for high speed stability like the earlier Porsche 911’s, while others are purely for cosmetics. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Just be thankful the big wing craze from earlier this decade has died down.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>You may notice that a lot of supercars with super-sized wings have been left out.  That&#8217;s because those cars need those wings for the speeds they obtain.  This post is more about cars whose wings seem out of place on everyday cars (ok, I still threw in two Lambo&#8217;s for fun).  Click the cars below to see the vehicles.</p>
