The 8 Cylinder engine is synonymous with performance vehicles. The V8 configuration could be the most famous engine of all time. Who doesn’t know what a V8 is, or recognize its awesome snarl?

There was a time in North America when nearly every family sedan and coupe rolled off the assembly line with a V8 engine. Those days are long gone and except for the recent resurgence of the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger and Pontiac G8, you would be hard pressed to find a V8 in any family car that doesn’t have a price tag beyond the reach of most people.

Back in the day a car was meant to big. Some would say the size of your car represented your status in life. Others would say it was a compensation thing. Either way, cars were big. Just look at some of the finest Cadillacs, Lincolns, Imperials and Buicks from the late 1950s through the 1970’s.
