NASCAR Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen

This gallery contains 41 photos.

It was like taking all the presents out from under the tree on December 25th and putting them back in your closet. That is the closest way I can describe the crushing disappointment felt when a NASCAR race is called off due to rain roughly 2 minutes from the start. To further this disappointment, imagine being 5 hours from home and knowing that there is no way you can stay an extra day to watch the race Monday. Continue reading

NASCAR Nationwide Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen

This gallery contains 45 photos.

This past weekend I had the opportunity to head down to Watkins Glen International Raceway in New York State to witness the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at the Glen. It was a race filled weekend featuring the Grand-Am Rolex Series Crown Royal 200 on Friday, the NASCAR Nationwide Series Zippo 200 on Saturday and finally the NASCAR Sprint Cup Heluva Good Sour Cream Dips at the Glen on Sunday. Well, let’s make that last race Monday instead. Continue reading

You’re Just Not That Into Cars – Top 10

This gallery contains 11 photos.

It has been said that a vehicle is an extension of one’s personality. This is particularly true of car guys. We always seem to buy vehicles that either reflects who we are or who we want to be. There are the truck guys, the sports car guys, the off-roaders, the tuners, etc. Continue reading

2468KMs, 7 States and 1 Province in 3.5 Days

This gallery contains 17 photos.

The long distance road trip seems to be a lost art these days. With airports appearing in even the smallest of towns, air travel has become the preferred method of travel. It is just so easy, quick and cheap to fly these days. Does that mean the road is officially dead? Well no, there are still some of us brave (crazy?) souls out there who like all that a road trip has to offer. The open road, the freedom, the lure of spontaneous adventures and fresh air will always be persuasive factors in embarking on a road trip. Continue reading

The green flag has dropped and the racers are driving their way across the Eastern United States. The Bullrun Rally is well on its way. Currently in day number four, the rally has lived up to the hype. With dozens of memorial stories and sightings being reported all over the internet already, people will still be talking about the rally long after it is finished. Continue reading

Bullrun Rally 2009 Ready to Roll

This gallery contains 24 photos.

It is 3 days before I need to be in New York City for the start of Bullrun and my official Bullrun vinyl kit is M.I.A. I need it to be able to partake in the official start of the Bullrun rally. Now normally this would onset panic and dismay. I mean, I am an amateur when it comes to applying vinyl at the best of times and this is a substantial kit. Working fulltime would only leave me 3 evenings at best to get the 10 hour job done. Not to worry though, I have an ace up my sleeve; more on that later.

Eleven Extreme Eights

This gallery contains 25 photos.

The 8 Cylinder engine is synonymous with performance vehicles. The V8 configuration could be the most famous engine of all time. Who doesn’t know what a V8 is, or recognize its awesome snarl? There was a time in North America when nearly every family sedan and coupe rolled off the assembly line with a V8 engine.

Looooong Term Road Test

This gallery contains 11 photos.

This past week I had the opportunity to travel back in time. I did not need a Delorean, a flux capacitor, or a vehicle capable of 88MPH (which is a good thing because the car I got wasn’t up to the task). All I needed was a 1994 Ford Tempo. So how did this come to be? Well, this week I took my car in for much needed maintenance. I am prepping it for an appearance at the Bullrun event in New York City in two weeks time. More on that event in future blogs. Continue reading
