Ever since Infiniti launched its G-series line-up, it has not only been winning numerous awards by the motoring press, but also has won the hearts of many buyers.

Part of the reason it has done so well is by offering variety. You can buy the G-series as either a sedan, a coupe or a folding hard-top convertible. You also get to choose between a manual or automatic gearbox, plus the choice between rear-wheel drive or intelligent all-wheel drive.

However, there has only ever been one engine on offer with the G-series, the 3.7-litre, V6. As impressive as this engine might be, Infiniti’s competition offer their models with a variety of engines. This enables them to price the car at different levels thus opening the market to a larger clientele.

For the 2011 model year, Infiniti is also offering an alternative engine. So sharing showroom space with the popular G37 will be the new entry-level G25 model.

The G25 for the time being will only be available in the sedan body-style, but it will offer buyers a choice between rear-wheel drive (G25) or all-wheel drive (G25x and G25x Sport).

Providing propulsion is a brand new 2.5-litre, V6 motor, which features double over-head cams (DOHC) and 24-valves. This compact motor develops 218 hp and 187 lb/ft of torque. This engine is also very efficient, managing up to 11% better economy than its 3.7-litre sibling.

The only transmission on offer with the G25 is Infiniti’s new seven-speed automatic, but this transmission does offer you manual control, so you do get the best of both worlds.

You also get (as standard equipment) a World-class cabin, complete with leather seats, Shodo aluminum interior trim, eight-way power driver and passenger seat, automatic climate control, and a six-speaker audio system.

Customers who want more, can choose from a variety of different option packages, like the “Premium” package which not only adds the 10-speaker Premium Bose® audio system but also adds driver’s seat memory system, power tilt and telescopic steering column, power moonroof and rear sonar system.

In the “Touring” package you add a reversing camera, Bluetooth® hands-free phone system, auto on/off headlights, auto dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone climate control and the Homelink system.  A built-in navigation system is also available.

For a sportier appearance, you can opt for the “Sport” model, which gives the car a more aggressive look by adding split rim style five-spoke alloy wheels, 225/50R18 tires, unique front bumper and side skirts, and different headlamps. While inside the “Sport” model you will find sports front seats, aluminum accelerator and brake pedals and steering-wheel mounted pedal shifters milled from magnesium.

So regardless of your taste, you will find a G25 that will suit your needs. So go on and see one up-close for yourself. It will be at your local Infiniti dealer by the time you finish reading this.
