Highlighting the Impressive Machines from the Bullrun 2009 Rally
Michael Schlee
The tire smoke has settled, the awards handed out, the bail money posted and the teams have returned home. The 2009 Bullrun rally is officially over. Those who caught a glimpse of it across the Eastern United States were privy to an amazing array of high end vehicles.

Team OH Canada
Ferrari, Porsche, Panoz, Koenigsegg and Maserati were some of the makes that were represented. It wasn’t just high end exotics that were on display though; the American muscle car was also on hand. Corvettes, Mustangs, Chevelles and even a Grand National made the grid.

Some of North America’s Most Boring Vehicles
Michael Schlee
It has been said that a vehicle is an extension of one’s personality. This is particularly true of car guys. We always seem to buy vehicles that either reflects who we are or who we want to be. There are the truck guys, the sports car guys, the off-roaders, the tuners, etc.

1996 Ford Taurus G
So what about those out there who do not have a passion for automobiles? What do they drive? Well, usually it is a vehicle that has an attractive price, is dependable or has great value/content. Some would go as far as to say some people buy cars as a transportation appliances.

The Great North American Road Trip
Michael Schlee
The long distance road trip seems to be a lost art these days. With airports appearing in even the smallest of towns, air travel has become the preferred method of travel. It is just so easy, quick and cheap to fly these days.

The Autotrader/Bullrun RX-8
Does that mean the road is officially dead? Well no, there are still some of us brave (crazy?) souls out there who like all that a road trip has to offer. The open road, the freedom, the lure of spontaneous adventures and fresh air will always be persuasive factors in embarking on a road trip.

The Rally Is Rolling
Michael Schlee
The green flag has dropped and the racers are driving their way across the Eastern United States. The Bullrun Rally is well on its way. Currently in day number four, the rally has lived up to the hype. With dozens of memorial stories and sightings being reported all over the internet already, people will still be talking about the rally long after it is finished.

Kim Kardashian
As mention in “Bullrun Rally Ready to Roll”, I was lucky enough to take the green flag start for the rally this year (look for the blue RX-8). I knew going down to New York City that the rally would be something special, but I had no idea how amazing and chaotic it would be.

Rally Begins July 11, 2009 in New York City
Michael Schlee
Sometimes things do not go according to plans. It is 3 days before I need to be in New York City for the start of Bullrun and my official Bullrun vinyl kit is M.I.A. I need it to be able to partake in the official start of the Bullrun rally. Now normally this would onset panic and dismay. I mean, I am an amateur when it comes to applying vinyl at the best of times and this is a substantial kit. Working fulltime would only leave me 3 evenings at best to get the 10 hour job done. Not to worry though, I have an ace up my sleeve; more on that later.

Bullrun RX-8 Lacking Decals
The event I am preparing for is the 2009 Bullrun Rally. For those not familiar with Bullrun, think of it as a mix between a road rally, a race and a week long non-stop party. With nothing more then a destination and road map, teams of two travel from checkpoint to checkpoint all over the USA during the course of one week. First one there (as determined by their starting and ending time) wins. Of course at the end of each day the teams enjoy some of the wildest and most exclusive night life each host city has to offer.

V8′s Packing Serious Power
Michael Schlee
The 8 Cylinder engine is synonymous with performance vehicles. The V8 configuration could be the most famous engine of all time. Who doesn’t know what a V8 is, or recognize its awesome snarl?

2010 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500
There was a time in North America when nearly every family sedan and coupe rolled off the assembly line with a V8 engine. Those days are long gone and except for the recent resurgence of the Chrysler 300C, Dodge Charger and Pontiac G8, you would be hard pressed to find a V8 in any family car that doesn’t have a price tag beyond the reach of most people.
