What do you get with the cheapest vehicles in Canada?
By Michael Schlee
Let’s face it. Right now times are tough. How tough? Well there is a lot of debate about that, but either way, things are not great for most of us financially.

Hyundai Accent
So if you are in the market for a new car, you are probably looking for something a little bit cheaper then you would have last year.
That led me to thinking, ‘what is the cheapest new car you can buy in Canada?’ You may think, why go new? Used cars are even cheaper. Yes, but a new car will come with a warranty providing worry free (and cost saving repair free) driving for years. Plus, even an entry level vehicle has a lot of options these days…..right???
I decided to look at 6 models in absolute base form that start below $14 500 Canadian. No options added what so ever. Some vehicles just missed the cut like the Honda Fit ($14980) and the Volkswagen City Golf ($15 300).
So here are the six contenders. The best news, you can probably pick them up cheaper right now at your local dealer through desperation incentive plans.
- Cheap Car Conparison
- Suzuki Swift+
- Chevrolet Aveo5
- Chevrolet Aveo5
- Kia Rio

- Hyundai Accent

- Toyota Yaris

Lets hope that the electric car is more successful the second time around. We have already seen the EV1 fail, lets really hope we can make it work this time.
