Back in the day a car was meant to big. Some would say the size of your car represented your status in life. Others would say it was a compensation thing. Either way, cars were big. Just look at some of the finest Cadillacs, Lincolns, Imperials and Buicks from the late 1950s through the 1970’s.

The common belief today is that cars have gotten smaller and more compact. While generally speaking this is true, there are still some land yachts on the market.

Even with the recent demise of perennial big-car favourites like the Town Car and Crown Victoria, there are still more then 15 vehicles than measure over 5 metres in length. Some are more then 6 metres long. To gain some perspective, the Smart fortwo is only 2.5 Metres long.

For the most part these cars fall into the ultra-luxury category. You know, the Maybachs, Rolls Royces, and Bentleys. However, there are a few surprises on this list. I have only included the longest version of a vehicle from any give model line.
